Open job offers for two Postdoctoral Researchers

The Centre for the History of Renaissance Knowledge announces recruitment for two Postdoctoral Researchers in Early Modern European intellectual history, within our KnowStudents project.

1) One position focuses on the research activity on manuscripts related to studies at the Italian university of the 16th and 17th century and preserved in Central and East European libraries and archives. Thus, knowledge of the intellectual and institutional background of Italian universities, especially of Padua, during the 16th and 17th century is especially welcome.

2) Second position aims at the research activity on a corpus of manuscripts formed by notebooks of law students, the aim is to analyze and compare the philosophical content in relation to the law content in the notebooks. Previous experience on the teaching of Law and Law education in the European Early Modern university is an asset.

Both job offers can be carried out in a hybrid form: stationary at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology Polish Academy of Sciences, in Warsaw, Poland, and at the place of residence.

The deadline for the call, for both positions, is September 19, 2022.
By the time of appointment (scheduled in November 2022) applicants must have a PhD or equivalent in History of Philosophy, Intellectual History or another relevant field; an excellent knowledge of English and Latin is requested.

By September 28, selected candidates will be formally invited to the final interview in Warsaw at the IFiS PAN. In the light of the COVID-19 health emergency, remote interviews will also be allowed. Interviews will be held, in the English language, from 3 to 7 October, the results will be announced on October 10.

Postdoctoral Researchers will be hired on full time positions, for one year (with the possibility of one-year extension), starting on November 1, 2021.
