Open job offers for two Postdoctoral Researchers

The Centre for the History of Renaissance Knowledge announces recruitment for two Postdoctoral Researchers in Early Modern European intellectual history, within our KnowStudents project.

1) One position focuses on the research activity on manuscripts related to studies at the university of the 16th and 17th century and preserved in Central and East European libraries and archives. Knowledge of the history of early modern ethics, preferably with an emphasis on its treatment in schools and universities is especially welcome.

2) Second position aims at the research activity on manuscripts related to studies of the art of memory at European university of the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries and preserved in Central and East European libraries and archives. Knowledge of the history of early modern schools and universities, preferably with an emphasis on teaching of the art of memory and learning techniques is particularly favourable.

Both job offers can be carried out in a hybrid form: stationary at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology Polish Academy of Sciences, in Warsaw, Poland, and at the place of residence.

The deadline for the call, for both positions, is June 7, 2024.
By the time of appointment (scheduled in July and September 2024) applicants must have a PhD or equivalent in history, history of philosophy, or intellectual history of the early modern period; an excellent knowledge of Latin, English, and another European language is requested.

By June 11, selected candidates will be formally invited to the final interview in Warsaw at the IFiS PAN. Remote interviews will also be allowed. Interviews will be held in the English language, on June 13, the results will be announced on June 26.

Postdoctoral Researchers will be hired on full time positions, for one year (with the possibility of a few-months extension, until the end of the project), starting on July 1 (position 1), and  September 1 (position 2), 2024.
